Shabana Team News: Brian Michira Out Injured As Mazembe Nears Return
By Shabananation • 5/7/2026
Shabana FC assistant coach Osbourne Monday has provided important squad updates ahead of Saturday’s league clash against Ulinzi Stars, including the latest on injuries and young players training with the senior team.
The biggest concern remains midfielder Brian Michira, who is currently sidelined through injury. The club had earlier posted a quick recovery message to the player on May 5, confirming fears that the midfielder would miss upcoming fixtures.
Michira’s absence comes as a setback for Shabana during a crucial stage of the season, with the team pushing to secure a strong finish in the SportPesa League table. His energy and work rate in midfield have been important throughout the campaign.
There was positive news, however, regarding defender Mazembe. According to Monday, the medical team has confirmed that the player is expected to return, handing the technical bench a timely boost ahead of the final stretch of fixtures.
Beyond injuries, Monday also revealed that several young players have been training alongside the senior squad as part of the club’s long-term development plans.
The assistant coach explained that the technical team wants emerging talents to experience the demands and standards of senior football early, while also giving them the chance to prove themselves for future opportunities.
“If they prove themselves, then it becomes the best opportunity to get them on board,” Monday said during the pre-match interview.
The approach reflects Shabana’s growing focus on building depth while creating a pathway for younger players to progress into the first team setup.
With the season nearing its conclusion, squad depth could become increasingly important, especially as injuries and fatigue continue to affect teams across the league.
