The feeling around Gusii Stadium was hopeful again.

After the thrilling 5–2 Mozzart Cup win over Muhoroni Youth, we came into this match believing another big result was coming. The stands were full, the red and white colors were everywhere, and the energy around Shabana FC felt strong.

For much of the match, it really did look like it would be our day.

But football can be cruel.

In the end, Kariobangi Sharks walked away with a 2–1 win, scoring twice late to turn what looked like three points for us into a painful defeat.

We looked in control

For long periods, we played with confidence and control.

The team pushed forward, the crowd stayed behind the players, and when we finally took the 1–0 lead, Gusii Stadium erupted. At that moment, it felt like we were managing the match well and could even push for a second goal.

Two brutal minutes

Then the game flipped.

In the 79th minute, Kariobangi Sharks found the equalizer. The goal changed the mood instantly, giving the visitors belief while leaving us suddenly chasing the game.

Before we could even settle again, the worst happened.

Just two minutes later in the 81st minute, Sharks scored again to make it 2–1. In the space of a few moments, the match had completely turned.

We pushed forward desperately in the final minutes, and even with added time we searched for an equalizer, but it never came.

The final whistle was a hard one to take.

That’s what makes this loss feel even more frustrating.

Only days ago we were celebrating five goals against Muhoroni Youth in the Mozzart Cup. The attack was flowing and confidence was high.

But league football is unforgiving, and small moments can change everything.

Despite the disappointment, we are still third in the SportPesa Premier League standings with 40 points from 24 matches.

We remain behind Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards SC, while teams like Kakamega Homeboyz continue to chase just behind us.

So while this loss hurts, the bigger picture of the season is still positive.
