Match Report: Shabana FC 0-0 Ulinzi Stars - Another Painful Night in Front of Goal, But Mazembe Gives Us Hope
By Shabananation • 5/9/2026
This one hurts because we all know Shabana FC deserved more.
From the first whistle, the boys came out aggressive, pressing high and pushing Ulinzi Stars deep into their own half. The stadium was alive early when Papa Diallo got a big chance in the seventh minute, but he dragged it wide.
Then came that crazy spell around the 21st minute where we missed chance after chance after chance. The football was there, the movement was there, the energy was there… but the final touch just refused to come.
Awiko tested the keeper, Papa kept fighting for every ball, and Omundi kept driving us forward, but somehow the goal would not arrive.
Big respect to Stephen Ochieng too because that save before halftime was important. Imagine dominating the game then conceding before the break, that would have killed the mood completely.
Second half felt like the fans were waiting for one moment to explode, and honestly the loudest reaction of the night was seeing James Mazembe back from injury. You could immediately feel the difference when he came on. Sharp touches, confidence, energy, composure, it honestly looked like he had never been away.
That boy changes games.
The heartbreaking moment came when Assis went through one-on-one. The whole stadium was already halfway celebrating, but the finish was poor straight at the keeper. You could see the frustration instantly because that was the chance.
Still, credit to the fans tonight. Even with the frustration, nobody gave up on the team. The supporters stayed behind the boys until the final whistle, singing and pushing.
Another clean sheet, another point, and now we move into fifth place in the table after starting the day sixth. But everyone knows this should have been three points.
If the finishing improves, this team can end the season very strongly.
Fan Player Ratings
James Ogachi Mazembe — 8.5/10
Welcome back! Honestly looked so comfortable after coming on. He brought calmness and quality immediately. One of the biggest positives from the match.
Stephen Ochieng — 7/10
Did what he needed to do. Important save before halftime and stayed focused the whole game.
Kevin Omundi — 7/10
Worked hard and kept driving forward. Helped us control large parts of the midfield battle.
Papa Diallo — 6.5/10
Very active and caused problems all evening. Could have done better with the early chance but never stopped fighting.
Awiko — 6.5/10
One of the more lively attacking players. Forced a good save and kept trying to make things happen.
Assis Mambote — 5.5/10
You have to score that chance. Simple as that. The movement to get through was good, but the finish let him down badly. Still kept battling until the end even after the yellow card.
